Dior’s Mysterious Watch

28 Apr 2009 In: Fashion & Jewelry

The new Christal Mysterieuse Watch by Dior is definitely a head turner. Although it looks intriguing it might be not too practical since it is very difficult to figure out what time it is. The dial of the watch is always moving at a slow rate. The Dior Christal Mysterieuse is named as such for the special Quinting manufacture movement that has three rotating plates. One for the hours, minutes and day. With this constant altering look of the dial, it appears the same only once a month. This way you can never really have any frames of reference to read the hands. The watch is that result of the work of five engineering.

If you don’t care much about its functionality you can buy this beautiful piece this Fall for approximately $26,000 USD. The bezel design of the timepiece features black sapphire plates and various shades of mother of pearl. The case is water resistant to 50 meters, and is attached to an alligator strap.

Goodbye Natasha Richardson

A private funeral service has been held for actress Natasha Richardson who died after a skiing accident. Husband Liam Neeson was among the pallbearers who carried her coffin into a small church in upstate New York. The actor arrived with their sons Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, and Richardson's mother Vanessa Redgrave and sister Joely Richardson. After a private wake on Friday her coffin was driven to the Hudson Valley farmhouse she shared with her family.

Graveside ceremony

It was emblazoned with an Irish claddagh symbol, signifying love, friendship and loyalty. From the acting profession, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Laura Linney, Uma Thurman and Timothy Dalton were among the mourners at the service, which was held at St Peter's Episcopal Church in Millbrook, 90 miles north of New York city. After a graveside ceremony, Richardson was buried in a cemetery close to her maternal grandmother, Rachel Kempson, who died while visiting her granddaughter and Neeson in 2003.

Instead of flowers, Richardson's family asked for donations to be made to the amfAR foundation for Aids research. The 45-year-old English-born actress, whose father Tony Richardson died of complications from the disease in 1991, was a long-time supporter of the charity and served on its board of trustees for the last three years of her life.

On Thursday the New York medical examiner's office said Richardson died of epidural haematoma caused by a blunt impact to the head. Richardson died in a New York hospital last Wednesday after being injured in a fall during a skiing lesson at the resort of Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. Doctors said she might have survived had she received immediate treatment.

Theatres in London's West End and on Broadway dimmed their lights in tribute to the respected stage actress on Thursday and Friday night.

Why Men Cheat ?

18 Sep 2008 In: Gadget, Gadget

A recent report by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden suggested that man's tendency to stray from the marital bed may be in his genes. The study found that men who inherit a genetic variant that affects an important attachment hormone, vasopressin, are more likely than usual to have weaker relationships and marital problems. It can be a good excuse for many men but scientist also say culture into which they are born, media influences, family and society also have a huge influence.

Susan Quilliam, psychotherapist and co-author of The New Joy of Sex says: “While men do have a tendency to have more partners than women, it is also true that if two people are in an unhappy marriage, one is more likely to be unfaithful. And it's not always the man. In the past, marriage was more of a contract. The woman stayed at home with the children, while the husband went to work. Infidelity often ended in the divorce courts. Now the roles have changed and, as more women go out to work, so they have more opportunity to stray and consequently women are more often becoming the unfaithful partner”.

Gary Neuman (psychotherapist) based on conducted research, concluded that genetics had little to do with most marital breakdowns. Majority of men cheated because they didn’t feel appreciated by their wives and there was an “emotional disconnect” in their home. Neuman points that a relationship breaks down because of a lack of communication. Neuman suggests that couples should set aside at least 45 minutes four times a week, to talk uninterrupted. After that they should go out for a two-hour date and not talk about money, work or children.

Successful marriage requires constant work and good communication.
