The viewers of Desperate Housewives said goodbye yesterday to Edie Britt, one of the main characters of the show. Killing off Sheridan’s character was a way to save money and Mark Cherry - the creator of the show, told TV Guide: “Edie’s already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could. There has been tremendous pressure put on me to cut costs.” That said, it seems that cutting out Nicollette Sheridan’s character was the easy choice to make.

However, the actress who was making between $100,000 and $200,000 per episode seems to be really unhappy about the decision. “When you have a jewel, why not polish it and put it out there for all to see?” And she warns axing her may backfire for Cherry: “(Killing off Edie) was a risky decision that could have devastating ramifications.”
