The red carpet was rolled out this week for the 62nd annual Cannes Film Festival. Beautiful evening gowns, high fashion and couture jewelry were as important as presented movies. The new thing about the Festival is the redesigned Golden Palm made by high end Swiss jeweler – Chopard. The golden leaf is created out of 24-carat gold, hand cast into a wax mold and attached to a single piece of cushion-cut crystal.

Chopard has also created 62 couture jewelry pieces in honor of the festival's 62nd year. The jewelry will be worn throughout the event be a group of chosen celebrities participating in the festival. The Chopard's co-president, Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele has already presented one of the stunning jewelry pieces from the collection - a huge sapphire and diamond couture necklace.

The festival runs through May 24th and the prestigious Palme d'Or will be presented to one of 20 films in competition this year.
