What started as a rumor has now come true: International singer Charice Pempengco is joining the cast of “Glee” next season, according to the show’s representative.

The 18-year-old singer will not just be joining not as a guest but as part of the cast, meaning she will be appearing in multiple episodes. She will be playing a foreign exchange student with big vocals that will give Rachel Berry serious competition---in other words, the lead singer will have a rival!

"It's official. I'm on Glee (next season) but (there is a) story behind it," Pempengco tweeted. "When (the) rumor came out, it wasn't true. But then after that, I tried to audition. And I made it!!" Pempengo’s mother, Raquel, has also confirmed the news via text massage to FilipinoOnline.

According to the FilipinOnline, the blog of Southern California-based freelance writer Yong Chavez, Charice’s US press agent Karen Moss said that “Charice will have a recurring role. Multiple episodes.” So, we’ll be seeing more of Charice in “Glee”, much to the delight of fans in and out of the Philippines.

Fans of “Glee” are waiting for the return of the musical dramedy this coming fall, and with Charice in “Glee, there is another reason to look forward to the series.
