Here is a first look of Natalie Portman in her latest movie, “Black Swan”, as released by its director, Darren Aronofsky. The photo portrays Portman in a ghost-face, which is contrasted by her blood-red lipstick and strange, almost cat-like contacts (Remember Padme Amidala, anyone?). The image partly reveals about “Black Swan”, which evokes the mystery of the heart of the psychological thriller.
Another one of her photos reveal Portman in the same makeup, dancing in a black tutu. In my opinion, the dark make-up and outfit says much that “Black Swan” will be a dark film and not as child-friendly as “Star Wars”. Portman has really matured and diversified in her roles ever since leaving the world of Padme Amidala from “Star Wars” and it shows how much of a good actress she has become.
“Black Swan” is about a New York ballerina, Nina, (Portman) who is cast in the productions “Swan Lake” and goes on a journey involving her opposing mother, demanding dance instructor and her seductive rival---a journey that will lead her into a dark path. It will premiere on September 1 as the opening selection for the Venice International Film Festival.
