Now I know the Scholastic Electronic Text Messenger was created mainly for high school students and young adults but I definitely would not mind owning this myself since I am more of a text feen and not a talker. A tad bit similar to Twitter, this device allows one to type and send 40-character SMS texts for up to 600 feet. Obviously if you're trying to send a text to your best friend that's sitting in a classroom of another high school chances are it won't send. Therefore although i'm not much of a talker, I do need more need distance in order to get my point across. The Scholastic Electronic Text Messenger is great for businesses that need to communicate with one another in office. If you've purchased a cell phone for your teen already I wouldn't rush to disconnect their service because chances are you'll be 600 feet or more away from your child whenever they contact you; unless you of course work at their institution.
