For Christina Aguilera, it’s an honor to be asked to sing the National Anthem before the Super Bowl Kick-Off so she prepared for it. But nobody thought that with her great voice and stage presence, she would forget the lyrics of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in an event where almost every American is watching.

That’s right! Singer Christina Aguilera forgot a line from the National Anthem and replaced it with a different line not once but twice. Instead of singing “O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming”, Aguilera replaced it with “what so proudly we watched at the twilight's last [unintelligable lyric]", according to celeb site, Popeater. Despite the fact that the people should be solemn while she sang the rest of the song, people couldn’t help but have different reactions as some shouted it while others just looked out of each other, not knowing what to say.

After the performance ended, Aguilera immediately went to the backstage and sources said that she was “devastated” by her performance and that she had let her people and America down. In a recent update from the celeb site, Aguilera addressed what happened in statement, saying “I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through”.

In fairness to Aguilera, at least she admitted she made a mistake and even addressed it. Maybe she’s not going downhill as what others think. I’m just glad she didn’t forget the lyrics on purpose, and it was a mistake that, hopefully, she will never do again.
