Oscar winner Natalie Portman officially announced that she will never again work with designer John Galliano (Dior’s creative director). She said she is "shocked and disgusted" by a video in which Dior’s designer says he loves Adolf Hitler. Portman says in a statement that "as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."
Galliano has been suspended by Dior fashion house after anti-Semitic incident in a Paris cafe last week. Two lawsuits were filled by people he had allegedly insulted and a video was released on the internet that showed the designer saying "I love Hitler and people like you would be dead today. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f...ing gassed and f...ing dead.”
Portman and Galliano both work with Christian Dior. Portman is the spokesmodel for Miss Dior Cherie perfume, and Galliano is/was the creative director.
