This is one scandal that is so shocking!
Arnold Schwarzenegger has admitted that he fathered a child with a longtime household staffer a decade ago. And, obviously, he didn't tell his wife, Maria Shiver about it.
Then, not only did the household staff work for the couple for over twenty years, but the woman continued working with them 10 years after giving birth to the child. Schwarzenegger just told Shiver about it recently after he the office as a governor and this could be the reason why the couple decided to split after 25 years of marriage.
Schwarzenegger said in a statement that:
“I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.
I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time. While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not."
The woman retired last January because he wanted to achieve twenty years of serving the couple and that she left on good terms with them. She even told the media before that the child she has now is her husband's (at that time) child, thus when she was told that Schwarzenegger revealed about fathering a child with her a decade ago, she declined to comment. Despite being kept a secret though, Schwarzenegger took responsibility and supported the child financially all these years.
This is quite shocking indeed because the secret has been for a very long time and nobody even found out, despite paparazzi and a lot of showbiz reporters surrounding Hollywood. There's no hope, most likely, in saving Arnold and Maria's marriage. But I hope the secret child will know his father to avoid confusion in everyone.
