Back in 2003, when James Spader joined the acclaimed law show ‘The Practice’, he certainly added a lot of dynamism and character to the show. His performance on the show was lauded by critics and audiences as he really shook things up. Now, he is set to do the same on ‘The Office’. While news of Steve Carrell’s departure from the show is extremely sad, the producers have been searching desperately for a new boss that will be able to fill Carrell’s shoes (something that has been deemed near-impossible). Since his departure, a number of candidates have applied for the role of new boss of Dunder Mifflin, Scranton branch. Will Ferrell, Kathy Bates and a number of others were unable to make the cut, but James Spader seems to bring the perfect balance of humor and arrogance. The rest of the show’s characters are the same, with Jim and Pam now married with child, Dwight K. Schrute still an abominable employee, and the rest of the cast as funny as ever. With James Spader’s rumored arrival, things will certainly look up, even if this might seem impossible. Hopefully the show will remain as funny and engaging in the upcoming season.
