Whenever there is a big movie in the works, actors and actresses often have to fight to get roles. This is true for every film. Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’ had stiff competition from a number of actresses for the lead role- Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively and many others competed for the role of Daisy Buchanan. However, Carey Mulligan finally won the coveted role. This time, the movie is ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’, a new movie that is helmed by Mark Wahlberg and David O. Russell. The list of actresses competing for the lead role in that movie is gigantic. A number of A-list actresses are fighting for a part, and they include Elizabeth Banks (who is busy shooting her large role in ‘The Hunger Games’ movie), Blake Lively (who recently acted in ‘The Green Lantern’ and is a regular on ‘Gossip Girl’), Kirsten Dunst (who won a Cannes Best Actress award for her role in Lars Von Trier’s ‘Melancholia’, Rachel McAdams (Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight in Paris’) and a number of others like Olivia Wilde (‘House’, ‘Cowboys and Aliens’), Rooney Mara (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’) and Andrea Riseborough. Whichever actress gets chosen for the movie is definitely a lucky one, as this is supposedly a dream role in a dream movie.
