On the one hand, you have Robert Pattinson, dreamy idol for teen girls (and moms) everywhere. On the other, you have James Franco- dreamy idol for hipsters and “intellectual” women (and men). So it might come as a shock to many that James Franco, arty actor to beat all arty actors, wanted to act in ‘Breaking Dawn’. Of course, this is partially a joke. James Franco meant it as “performance art”, obviously. The outspoken actor said in a recent interview with Playboy that he wanted to act in the movie ‘Breaking Dawn’ which is the fourth part of the popular ‘Twilight’ franchise, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. However, the director, Bill Condon, did not approve of casting Franco. James Franco has been in the news lately, quite a lot- and runs the risk of severe overexposure. The actor was recently seen defending his poorly received performance as an Oscar host, and was also in a minor Twitter scandal after posting pictures that were not appropriate for his underage followers. He also talked about filming his latest movie ‘The Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, and how it was very different from filming ‘127 Hours’ or ‘Milk’. His time studying in Yale and Rhode Island School of Design were also hot topics of conversation during the interview.
